Women’s Day in a Sporting Spirit

The first Women’s Catch’n Serve Ball tournament in Poland was held on the 8th of March 2026 at the sports hall in Łomianki. The competition was included in the calendar of events of the International Catch’n Serve Ball Sports Federation, which resulted in an international lineup of teams.

Four teams from Latvia and three teams from Poland entered the competition. Among them were players representing the municipality of Łomianki and the surrounding area, as well as athletes from Poznań and Parzno representing the OSA Łomianki sports club.

The matches were very intense, with teams fighting for every point. In the final, the Latvian players avenged their earlier defeat from the preliminary round and defeated the first team of OSA Łomianki. The bronze medals went to representatives from Latvia who, after a very balanced match, defeated the second Polish team by a small points margin.

An additional distinction for the participants was the Fair Play award granted by the referees to one player from each team for exceptional attitude on the court.

Final standings:

  1. KK Var (Latvia) – Fair Play award: Elīza Sīmansone
  2. OSA Łomianki 1 (Poland) – Fair Play award: Monika Urbańska-Ludwiczak
  3. Zemgales Masas (Latvia) – Fair Play award: Sigita Roziņa
  4. OSA Łomianki 2 (Poland) – Fair Play award: Dominika Leligdowicz
  5. Liepājas vētras – Fair Play award: Evita Leitāne
  6. Ker Prieku (Latvia) – Fair Play award: Daniela Sīle
  7. OSA Łomianki 3 (Poland) – Fair Play award: Ivanna Smorodska

All participants received commemorative gadgets, and medals and distinctions were awarded. A contest for fans and event participants was also organized.

The tournament also attracted the attention of journalists from Polish National Radio. A reporter was gathering material for a radio program that will promote Catch’n Serve Ball in Poland.

The tournament was organized by the OSA Łomianki sports club, which ensured professional refereeing and very good playing conditions at the ICDS sports facilities in Łomianki. The involvement of volunteers — who train volleyball daily at the OSA Łomianki club — was also invaluable.

The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Łomianki, Tomasz Dąbrowski, and was co-financed by the Municipality of Łomianki.

We would like to thank our partners for their support:
