CATCH for THERAPY and SERVE for INCLUSION at University Warsaw
The seminar, perfectly organized by Chairman Dr. Piotr Łapiński, started with scientific lectures on Health and psychosocial effects of inclusive physical activity (Dr Hanna Nałęcz) and Teamwork during sea sailing trips with blind and visually impaired people (Dr Inga Maruszyńska-Małachowska). In a live stream from Kenya, Jadlyne Makena Krakus gave an insight into the Catch'n Serve activities and prospects at the HelpFuraha's upcoming Center in Kenya.
Afterwards, the Catch'n Serve Ball program officially started with the theoretical information part by ICSBF President Elisabeth Speiser-Havel for the 30 participants. Christina Gschweidl-Faltner, sports coordinator of Catch'n Serve Ball Austria, explained the rules to the various target groups.
The university doctors, prison officers, representatives of sports clubs, students, girls from the educational center and psychologists who work with people with physical and mental disabilities were all immediately interactive in the topic and recognized the possibilities of Catch'n Serve Ball for their fields.
There was still a little skepticism about the sport itself during the lunch break. However, this quickly disappeared when the varied sports program started. After the beginners' lesson, in which the basics, technique and simple exercises were explained, the first matches were held. More in-depth and sometimes very complex exercises were on the program on the second day.
Students kept dropping by and joining in. It's always amazing how quickly the level of play rises and how much fun everyone has! Training and playing took place at the usual net height (women's height) although there were as many women as men taking part. This worked excellently becuse of the fair play spirit. The offer for the men to let off steam briefly at the higher net was also accepted by the women - equality, after all.
The aim of the international seminars is to train certified multipliers and spread Catch'n Serve Ball. It would be great if organizations could join the ICSBF as members and a national Catch'n Serve Ball association could be founded.
Now the ball is literally in the hands of Piotr Łapiński, the University of Warsaw, its cooperation partners and the participants.
"It was great to meet so many great, dedicated people with such different and interesting stories. We experienced a lot of joy, fellowship and fun during these two days. Thank you! I look forward to continuing our cooperation and it would be great if Catch'n Serve Ball Poland could actually come into being!”, said ICSBF President Elisabeth Speiser-Havel
