A perfect mix of participants and a great atmosphere at the Basic Seminar in Athens

The two-day training session, which was organised with great care by HOCSH, was attended by sports students, referees who had already officiated at the CSIT WSG 2025 in Loutraki, former professional volleyball player Giorgos Klaroudas along with several players from his club and Charalampos Pelekis, sports administrator at HOCSH who brought some of his students from IEK Omiros. A player from Christina Pappas’s Greek Catch’n Serve team was also present.

The perfect mix and basis for rolling out Catch’n Serve in Greece. And that is exactly what they want to do. Everyone was thrilled by the diversified seminar, which was prepared by Angeliki Lagou with great effort and delivered with commitment and passion by ICSBF President Elisabeth (Sissi) Speiser–Havel and Catch’n Serve Ball Austria Sports Coordinator Christina Gschweidl-Faltner.

The first day in particular demanded a great deal of flexibility, as the first practical sports session took place in the seminar rooms immediately after the theory part. The lack of space was more than made up for by a great deal of fun. Both days were characterised by interactivity. The referees, in particular, contributed valuable feedback on the rules.

On the second day, things got really active. As all participants were well-trained and had volleyball experience, the basic programme (an introduction to Catch’n Serve technique for beginners) was quickly supplemented with exercises for advanced players.

Exhausted but satisfied, the 20 participants received their certificates and coach shirts.

The next step is to plan how to attract as many new potential players as possible and build teams. There is also interest in organising another international tournament. The most recent event, which also saw the participation of several Catch'n Serve Ball teams from various countries, were the recently held 7th Northern Greece Workers Sports Games in Thessaloniki.

We’ll stay in touch and would like to thank HOCSH for their fantastic and appreciative support service.
