49 Participants at the 1st ICSBF Referee Training
This free training offered a concise presentation covering the most important rules and game situations, as well as dedicated modules on Fair Play and the most challenging referee decisions. Participants included not only referees who will officiate at the CSIT Single Championships 2026, but also many enthusiasts from around the world.
ICSBF Head of Referees Svetlana Fedostseva expertly guided the program. During the numerous detailed questions, other experts contributed their insights, including Anu Rajajarvi, ICSBF Vice President for Gender Equality and TUL coordinator for the CSIT Single Championships, and Monica Zibellini, ICSBF Vice President for Sport and President of the Technical Commission for Catch’n Serve Ball at CSIT. Special support also came from Danae Loizou from Cyprus, who shared her extensive experience during the preparation and highlighted key points throughout the sessions.
The next step for participants is the written test. The link will be sent shortly, along with the presentation, a collection of hand signals, and video examples.
Key Rule: Fair Play! This is summarized in a dedicated document: “We live fair play”: ICSBF Code of Fair Play
IMPORTANT: Referees who will officiate in Finland but missed the online training should contact Svetlana Fedostseva at referee@catchandserve-ball.com. She can also assist those who passed the theory part but will not be attending in Finland.
The practical training will take place on March 12 at 5:00 PM in Pajulahti, Finland. Referees will receive on-field instruction, have open questions answered, and observe situations demonstrated in practice – something that is often more difficult to convey in theory.
